DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HERBAL &CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE.
Herbal treatment is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic, Chinese and Unani(Greek) healing systems. These systems are different from conventional Allopathic  System. We cannot judge these systems through the lens of allopathic system, rules of football game cannot be applied to the game of hockey .
(1)Allopathic system relies mostly on synthetic products, though a fair amount of drugs are plant derived, where as herbal system is natural .
(2)Allopathic system measures the active ingredient ( usually single) in the drug where as herbal system measure the whole of herbal ingredient, containing more than one elements.
(3) Allopathic system ascribes the benefits or hazards to the active ingredient, whereas in herbal system, effects are thought because of collective effect of all constituents. The color, energy level and form is important in herbal system. According to herbal system all these display synergy in producing the beneficial effects.
(4)Allopathic drugs have direct target effect and have related side & adverse effects, whereas in addition to direct effects of phytochemicals and some organic compounds , herbs have more general effects through their immune boosting and anti oxidant properties and are generally safe.
(5)Allopathic drugs have a narrow therapeutic index(strict dosing is necessary to avoid toxic or no effects),whereas herbal medicines have wide safety margin. That is why mostly herbs are equally effective as a preventive, complementary, cure or integrative therapy with allopathic medicines. Lastly but not the least, ‘’proof of the pudding is in eating’’.
